If you email lochardilanddrummondcc@gmail.com a day or two in advance with the relevant details, we'll try to oblige. Greetings will be posted on our Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Series of Break-Ins in Inverness, Daviot and Kingussie (posted 24th March)

Rather than despair about how low some people will stoop, please look out for the vulnerable in your area. Remember, most folk are mostly kind most of the time.

Highland & Islands Police Division
Detectives are continuing enquiries after three care homes were broken into. Around 10:30pm on Friday, 20 March, 2020, four men gained access to the Isobel Fraser Care Home in Mayfield Road, Inverness. The men were dressed in dark coloured clothing and they broke in, through a window and stole cash and items belonging to the residents of the care home.
Around 00:40am on Saturday 21 March 2020, police received a report that Meallmore Lodge in Daviot had been broken into, again items and money belonging to the residents were stolen.
A third break-in occurred at the Wade Centre in Spey Street, Kingussie. Two men, dressed in dark-coloured clothing, were spotted near the premises. Items belonging to the residents and money were stolen.
No-one was injured in any of the incidents, however, items of great sentimental value have been stolen and for many people, these items are irreplaceable.
Following enquiries, officers believe the incidents are linked and the same people are responsible. From enquiries carried out so far, officers have identified that a blue coloured Audi car was seen in the area.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was driving in the areas targeted or the A9, between Inverness and Kingussie during this period is asked to check their dash cams as they may have captured footage which could assist the investigation.
Detective Constable Graham Gordon said: “It’s imperative we trace the people responsible for these crimes. We will continue to review CCTV footage from the premises for any additional information which could assist our investigation. “To steal precious jewellery and items from elderly people, with no thought for the impact it will have on them, is sickening. Many of these items will have been in their possession for several years, perhaps belonging to their loved ones who are no longer here. Clearly, those responsible only care for themselves and whatever they can get. Although, I’m sure if it was their mother, father or grandparents, they would think differently. “I am appealing to members of the public for any information regarding these incidents or anyone who has information on those responsible to please contact us.”
Anyone with information can call CID officers at Burnett Road Police Station in Inverness via 101 quoting incident number NN/1859/20. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.

We have had further advice from Scottish Government that NO pupils should attend school to complete SQA work. I know that this may cause some of you some anxiety but please be assured that the SQA will find a way to ensure that you are certificated fairly and that you are not disadvantaged. Public health clearly has to be the number one priority and this is the right decision.
We will be in touch as we get more information but in the meantime, if you have work that you can do at home, you could continue with this. Please stay in touch with your teachers through Google.
Stay safe and well and do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have. If you are unable to reach us by phone, please email your queries/concerns to ira@highland.gov.uk

Police Message 22nd March

Chief Constable Iain Livingstone QPM has thanked the overwhelming majority of people for observing the government instruction to stay out of pubs, restaurants, and urges people to comply with government and health advice
He said: "I fully support the instruction from the UK and Scottish Governments for public houses, cafes, restaurants and other entertainment venues to close.
"I would like to thank the overwhelming majority of people who are already complying for their assistance and co-operation.
"The response to coronavirus has been fast moving and I would urge everyone to do what they can to comply with the advice from government and the health service to keep people safe.
"You should also stay informed about developments and reflect on the implications of them on how you go about your lives during these difficult days.
"To be clear, no public houses or other entertainment venues should be opening for patrons until further notice.
"Our dedicated officers and staff are working round the clock to support the magnificent work of health professionals and wider society as we work collectively to protect our fellow citizens.
"I urge everyone to play their part in the national effort.
"We are aware of proposed legislation in relation to COVID-19 and are carefully monitoring its progress and considering what the implications for policing will be.
"In the meantime, those breaking the law will be dealt with appropriately to ensure the public is kept safe from risk and harm as we continue to police the country.
"I am grateful to all our officers and staff who continue to deliver an absolutely first class service in these challenging conditions for their continued dedication, hard work and support.
"We will continue to focus on public service and, by working together, we will come through this."
